Clubs: Something for everyone

We are a couple weeks into school and clubs are beginning to start up. They are a great way to get involved in your school and make friends. Here are some clubs that PHU has to offer.

Key Club is run by Mrs. Dirscherl and Mrs. Chonko. They meet every second Tuesday in the cafeteria after school. It offers many opportunities for students to volunteer in their community.

“Key Club is a great way to help your community with voluntary service to change our communities. For example, you can tutor kids, help the elderly or just assist anyone in need” says Mrs. Dirscherl, the club sponsor.

Mu Alpha Theta is also known as Math club and is run by Mrs. Bride. They meet every Thursday. Here you can compete in math competitions with other schools in the area. If you enjoy math this may be the club for you!

Another club is FBLA! This stands for Future Business Leaders of America. They meet on Tuesdays to discuss and prepare for the necessities that come along with being in the business market. It is run by Mr. Schachter.

Drama Club is run by Mrs. Johnson and meets on the first friday of every month. During meetings you learn more about opportunities to get involved in the school’s theatre department. After earning a certain amount of points by getting involved you can become a Thespian!

Debate involves many students coming together to improve public speaking skills and persuasive arguments. Mrs. Seaman runs the club and they meet on Wednesdays. In addition, there are competitions with other schools.

Photography Club is also returning after one year of absence. It meets every second and fourth Wednesday in room 4-115 and is run by Ms. Cannaday.
As it is the beginning of a new school year, there are many flyers around school for upcoming clubs. PHU has a wide variety of clubs to offer and you’ll never know if you like it unless you go and give it a try!
