Howl-O-Scream lives up to reputation

-Every turn is sudden and every scare is delightfully horrifying at Howl-O-Scream

With walkways lined with creatures ranging from human birds to possessed ghost-like figures, you could tell you were at Howl-O-Scream. This year, new houses and shows were added to the usual line up for entertaining the masses looking for a good scare this Halloween.

A list of all haunted houses this year at Howl-O-Scream included:

  • Dead Fall
  • Zombie Containment Unit 15
  • Death Water Bayou
  • The Basement
  • Blood Asylum
  • Circus of Superstition: The Show Must Go On
  • Zombie Mortuary
  • The Experiment (A separate ticket must be purchased for this house)

One of the newest haunted house innovations was Zombie Containment Unit 15. In this house, you start outside and receive instructions from a designated unit instructor. Once inside, you are put into a room armed with a laser gun and are given further instructions on how to survive the zombie infested house. Coming face to face with zombies was just one problem, but walking through an infected war zone and not knowing when they would appear out of nowhere was another. The only means of ‘protection’ is  to ‘shoot’ and stop the zombies from attacking with the laser gun given to guests at the beginning of the haunted house.

Unlike Zombie Containment Unit 15, the Dead Fall haunted house had a sad and tragic history behind it. Creators will bring guests to an abandoned town where the memories of loved ones were forgotten. Many of those forgotten were upset and would do anything to be remembered once more, evoking empathy in guests for the creatures’ lives of loneliness rather than fear.

For those that feel haunted houses just aren’t their cup of tea, a ride on the newly opened Falcons Fury may be just what they need. Standing at an amazing 335 feet, riders plummet down a 90 degree angle going 60 mph. The adrenaline rush and excitement makes this addition  well worth the wait.

If you still haven’t made plans for this Halloween, then head over to Howl-O-Scream – Busch Gardens has once again provided a fun, scary, and entertaining event that lives up to the reputation that has families coming back every year.
