Prom is coming

Prom+is+coming

Prom is something almost every girl is looking forward to from the day they start high school until that very night. Now, don’t take it the wrong way, not EVERY girl is necessarily “excited” for prom. There will be many people with little to no interest about it at all. Regardless of if you’re looking forward to just dressing up, dancing, being with friends, or whatever, it’s important to take advantage of this time and make it memorable.

At Palm Harbor University High School, prom is April 21. This may seem like a long time away, and it kind of is, but at the same time it will come up very quickly. These next few months are the times when girls will start to worry most. Prom only happens in high school. For most students, it is only junior and senior year.

Don’t let the opportunity to make these memories pass you by. Yes, preparing for prom is going to be stressful, but just remember that it will be worth it once that night finally comes around. The common thoughts rushing through girls’ heads when someone says “prom” include what dress to wear, to go with a date or just friends, to go both junior and senior year or just one year, and how to do hair and makeup.

One of the most known stressors around prom time for girls is what color and style dress to wear. The reason behind this stress is the fact that once someone buys a specific dress from a specific store, no one else can buy that dress from that store.

If you’re one of the girls who waits to buy their dress, you won’t have as many options as someone who buys their dress relatively soon. “I’m worried that my dress won’t fit perfectly since I ordered it but never actually tried it on. I’m sure it will fit fine since they measured me, but it’s still very stressful,” traditional junior Kylie Hutton said when asked what is stressing her out most.

When you think “prom,” do you think of going with a date or just going with your friends? A lot of people would probably say date, but don’t let that be the deciding factor for if you should go or not. Yes, getting asked to prom, or a “promposal,” is what a lot of girls want to happen, but just because you don’t get asked doesn’t at all mean you just shouldn’t go.

Another major thing that some people tend to forget about is planning. One recommendation would be to basically have the majority of the night planned prior to prom. This will help you avoid some stress once that night does comes around. If you want to go out to dinner before prom, you will need to put that into consideration when deciding what time you’re going to head out at. Also, make sure that you have your rides organized so nobody has to show up alone and you get to be with all your friends.

Prom will involve a lot of planning, but after it’s all over, it will be worth it to get to look back years from now at all the pictures. You’ll be able to see how much fun you had. Don’t let of making it perfect get to you–just go out with your friends and have fun.
