Caffeine addicts lament

Students who rely on sugar laden, caffeine overdosed drinks in order to find the motivation necessary to drag themselves through seven periods a day now have to find their sources elsewhere. It has recently been regulated by the government, as a result of the importance Michelle Obama places on a healthy lifestyle, that a ban be placed on soda beverages being sold on public school campuses.

Overnight, the vending machines of PHU underwent a makeover and suddenly, the campus was void of school-endorsed sodas.

How has this affected the campus? Not much. The vending machines are still stocked full of overly sugary liquids for students to indulge in on a daily basis, and those who are dead set on their daily dose of caffeine are perfectly entitled to bring their own can of soda to school with them for the day, as many students do.

“Caffeine actually helps me stay awake and stay focused during class,” senior Elaina Pilat said. “I am very upset.”

Still, Pilat and other students in similar circumstances bring their morning Starbucks coffee or a can of soda with them to school in the morning. Those who don’t still have access to a plethora of other drinks in the vending machine to grow accustomed to.
