Apple 2016 New Release

Apple+2016+New+Release

The months of waiting and bickering over the new generation of the iPhone has finally come to an end. On the evening of August 7, 2016, the tech giant Apple Inc. revealed one of its most anticipated iPhone designs to date. The new iPhone 7 boasts long anticipated features such as water resistance, a redesigned home button, extended battery life, enhanced screen resolution, boosted audio, dual cameras, and two new colors.

As far as physical changes and redesigns go, the iPhone 7 is slightly smaller than its predecessors. With a stunning improvement in definition, the new iPhone’s 4.7 inch screen display promises users a new standard at which to judge the competition.

The new iPhone will also be able to come in the colors black and jet black, allowing for two more options than before. However, while the color black is available to all models, the color jet black will only be available to those who spring for the 256GB version.

One of Apple’s most controversial changes of any iPhone generation thus far is the elimination of the 3.5 mm headphone jack. The new Apple EarPods (wireless headphones with up to twenty-four hour battery life) are expensive as well and don’t come with the purchase of the iPhone 7, causing upset among many users.

A single pair of Air Pods will go for about $159 upon release. This combined with the cost of a brand new iPhone 7 will cost about $700-1,000, depending on the amount of storage the phone comes with.

As of internal changes, Apple really stepped up its game with this release. The iPhone 7 sports an A10 Fusion chip with 64-bit architecture and M10 motion coprocessor, promising some of the fastest computing on smartphones to date. The new processor speeds will also allow for up to 25 bands of LTE, allowing users to stream and upload at rates that were thought unimaginable until now.

Overall, the iPhone 7 seems to be unbelievably better than its priors. However, the extinction of the headphone jack may be a large blemish on a phone design that is otherwise perfect. Only time will tell if users can compensate for the fact that there will be no more “pass the aux cord,” or plugging in their wired headphones directly into the phone.
