Victory For Girls Soccer
The lady Canes came out swinging on Thursday, December 22, bringing in a 2-0 win for Palm Harbor’s varsity girls’ soccer team in the 5A regional quarter-finals against the St. Pete Devils.
The girls enjoy being out on the field, despite the fact that it is a lot of hard work and preparation.
“When I go onto the soccer field, all my stress and the whole world stops and I don’t think of anything else but the game.” Kathryn Huapaya said.
Kathryn Huapaya scored for a 1-0 lead in the first quarter.
“It felt amazing to get a goal because we were tied 0-0, and I scored, and then our team become more confident, and as long as we kept it 2-0 we would make it to the semi-regionals.” Kathryn Huapaya said.
Thanks to Melanie Diaz, the girls had some great saves throughout the game.
During the 2nd quarter Shalisa Crowell made a goal, assisted by the Lady Canes caption, Kayla Mouton. Palm Harbor was still in the lead 2-0 during the 2nd quarter with only 19:17 left in the game.
Hard work and practice has finally payed off and the Lady Canes are now heading into the semi-regionals.
