Upcoming: 2015 Football Season

Looking forward to the new season with new players and new opportunities.

Last Friday, the classic spring football game was held at Nature Coast Technical High School. The game started around seven o’ clock Friday night and ended with Nature Coast winning 34-32.

Even though they lost, it was a successful game for the Canes. From losing varsity players leaving for college, and new players from JV going up to varsity is a big change in the roster. For example, Cameron Mouton will be replacing Brandon Swift for varsity QB.

The team still has a lot to prove from the 1-9 season they had last year. Player Brendan Thomas believes that they can improve from last year’s season.

“Although we went 1-9 last year, we will continue to work hard.” Thomas said.

The season will start off with the preseason game against the Mitchell Mustangs at home. One week later, on August 28, the team will travel to East Lake to face the Eagles, the team’s long time rivals.  Then PHU will play nine more opponents and then travel to Dunedin to face the Falcons on November 6 to end the regular season.

For JV, they will face the Tarpon Springs Spongers in Tarpon for the season opener, and end the season against the Largo Packers on October 15.
