Stephen Curry has been named the Kia NBA MVP for the second year in a row.

This season, Curry became the first player to ever unanimously win the MVP award. Not even Michael Jordan was able to achieve a unanimous vote.

Even through an injury-plagued postseason, Curry has continued to make huge waves. Curry led his Golden State Warriors to a historic regular season.

This regular season Curry averaged a league-high 30.1 points per game, averaged a steady 6.7 assists per game, and also averaged 5.4 rebounds per game. The leadership of Curry and the teamwork of the Warriors’ combined for a historic 73-9 record.

This success could not have happened without Curry at the helm. As for any great player, their true greatness doesn’t shine until the postseason. Curry has shown out in the postseason for sure.

On Monday, May 9th, Curry returned from an injury that has sidelined him for 6 games this postseason. When he returned, he returned with a bang… He continued right where he left off and scored an insane 40 points to lead the Warriors to an overtime win in game 4 against the Portland Trailblazers.

On Wednesday, May 11th, Curry received his MVP award from the NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, in front of his home crowd and family at Oracle Arena in Oakland. He held the trophy up for the fans and then proceeded to close out the Portland Trailblazers by scoring 29 points, taking the series 4-1.

It would be a huge bust if the Warriors aren’t able to take home the NBA championship. The fans and friends of Curry definitely hope that this MVP award will be accompanied by a repeat NBA Finals championship.

If Curry is to win the NBA title, he will enter an elite group of players such as Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, etc. These players all have something that not many players posess, they all have multiple rings and were/are great leaders.

Curry could very soon be amongst an elite group of players that have established themselves as “champions”.
