Football. Everyone loves going to the games whether it be sitting with your friends on the bleachers or cheering on your school against the other school, Friday nights are always full of excitement. The chill of the fall air when the season starts adds to anticipation that your team will win.

The Hurricane football team’s record is currently 5-3. This year, they had started off with a win of 51-11 in the pre-season game against Mitchell. But then, in the first game of the actual season, the ‘Canes took a loss of 35-38.

On October 28th, the Hurricanes traveled to Tampa Riverview High School to play the Sharks. Anticipation was in the air since the ‘Canes and Sharks had never crossed paths before.

The game was exciting for sure. The ‘Canes were losing at first, but after halftime, they got it together and started to win. J’von France had a receiving touchdown and a punt return for a touchdown. Jamaine Derogene had four rushing touchdowns. What had really helped them to get ahead was throwing J’von France on a post route (a pass play).

The football teams senior night is November 4th. Senior night is where the senior class of 2017 plays their last home game. It seems unbelievable that they have been playing for 4 years already.

“Hearing the crowd cheer and playing games on Fridays under the lights is an experience I will never forget,” said Wyatt Beasey, number 10 on PHU’s varsity football team.
