On Tuesday, March 28th, 2017, two Palm Harbor University swimmers signed to colleges. The two swim seniors, Michael Bemis, and Britney Caprio, signed to Berry College, and Long Island University, respectively.

The ceremony started in the teaching auditorium, where the two seniors sat at two long tables in front of more than 50 of their peers and closest friends. Soon enough, as Dr. Tonry Gonzalez was ending the ceremony, she told the seniors to sign their contracts, and their college decisions were made.

“It’s a bit freaky being so far away from home,” Bemis said, who is going to Berry College in Georgia. “However, it is pretty nice to have some distance from my parents.”

The coaches were ecstatic and proud of their swimmers, as they “dabbed” in a picture with their swimmers. Coach Bitting and Coach McCann have both been coaching the Palm Harbor swim team for many years, and have been raising swimmers to get scholarships into colleges, such as Caprio and Bemis.

“It is really cool seeing my friends that I have known since freshman year be successful and sign to colleges because of their accomplishments,” Palm Harbor senior, Jennifer Knutson, said.

We wish Bemis and Caprio all the best as they move on from Palm Harbor and represent us well.
