Imagine a world in which WWII has yet to occur, sliced bread is nonexistent, and the Chicago Cubs have just claimed the World Series. This is of course the year 1908, which serves to be the final time that the Cubs have prevailed in claiming the ultimate baseball title. Ever since that victory, the northern region of Chicago has endured countless defeats and near triumphs; however, the fan base of the Chicago Cubs has remained vigilant in supporting a team that seems to fall short of expectations every season.

Now, the Cubs finally have an opportunity to prove to the world that they are capable of greatness. Under the management of Joe Maddon, former coach of the Tampa Bay Rays, the Chicago Cubs are now on the brink of winning it all. Although, the team is in dire need of back to back victories in order to break the curse that seems to have rendered the team incapable of winning a championship.

Currently, the Cubs are tied with the Cleveland Indians in the World Series three games to three. Although the odds are high, it is extremely difficult not to root for baseball’s “most lovable losers.” Additionally, the Indians themselves have not claimed the title in over 68 years. Therefore, it seems that this is the year one of the two longest World Series victory droughts will terminate.

Thousands of fans are already celebrating, merely because their beloved team has finally made it to the finals. However, it has proven to be extremely difficult to obtain tickets to spectate any of the games with prices commencing at 7,000 dollars. However, no matter the price, both fan bases have proven more than willing to fork over extreme quantities of cash in order to have the opportunity to say that they were there when the drought was ended, and they witnessed the sweet sensation of victory rain down upon their team and their city.
