The weekend of December 11-12 had a lot in store for students of Palm Harbor University High School, especially for the students of PHUHS Theatre Troupe 5590 because it was the weekend of their District Competition. The Theatre Troupe achieved the most Superiors, at one event, in their history of being a troupe. Superiors are very major and powerful awards in the world of drama and the troupe’s hard work and performance during the competition earned them the reward they deserve.
The Theatre Troupe 5590 received three Critics’ Choice and six Honorable Mention awards at the District 4 Thespian Competition this past week. Their One Act received straight “Superiors”, and was chosen to represent the district at the State Thespian Festival, in March. Close to fifty PHUHS drama students participated in the One Act and/or Individuals Events. Of the twenty-four Individual Events entered, twenty received Superiors, and four received “Excellents”, which is another prestigious form of an award.
