Numerous concerts are coming to the area this summer. From rock to rap, one can absolutely find something they’re interested in. Here are a few concerts going on in summer 2010.
At State Theatre, a venue usually for lesser known acts in St.Petersburg, alternative band Framing Hanley will be playing on Friday, June 25. Doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets are $15. They’ll be playing with comparable sounding bands, The Veer Union, Transmit Now, and Against the Wall. Also coming to State Theatre is the “Rock Yourself to Sleep” tour with pop-punkers Every Avenue headlining and supporting bands Sing It Loud, There for Tomorrow, and the Secret Handshake. Tickets are $13 for the July 13th show, and the doors open at 7p.m.
Warped Tour returns this summer, and seems better than ever; with a large assortment bands, ranging from English screamo/metal band Bring Me the Horizon, to pop-punk Floridians Hey Monday, to the acoustic/pop sound of Never Shout Never, everyone’s bound to enjoy something at Warped Tour. Like last year’s show, this year’s will be at Vinoy Park in St.Petersburg and tickets are about $35, but that’s just for ordering them. Tied in with average shipping, and delivery costs, the total comes out to around $50. It may seem a little expensive to some people, but it’s definitely worth it. Not only will you see over 30 bands live, there’s the opportunity to check out booths such as Glamour Kills, Peta 2, To Write Love on Her Arms, meet bands, and much more. But keep in mind, Warped Tour is an all day, outside music concert, so prepare for the best and worst. The show is going to be on July 23.
“I think Warped Tour’s going to be great this year, just like it was last year,” sophomore Ayla Sullivan said. “I’m looking forward to seeing Never Shout Never the most.”
Rihanna is coming to the Bay area this summer with guest Ke$ha for “The Last Girl on Earth Tour”. This is happening on July 30 at the Florida State Fairgrounds at 7:30 p.m. However, this concert is a little on the pricey side. Tickets range from a reasonable $40 for a lawn seat, to an astonishing $2,000 for a ticket, which includes a VIP meet and greet with Rihanna, and much more.
Alternative band The Maine is coming to State Theatre in St.Pete on August 13. Tickets are around $15, and the show begins at 6 p.m.
For all the country music fans, Grammy award winning duo Brooks and Dunn are heading to Tampa on June 11 at the Ford Amphitheater for their “Last Rodeo” tour. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. and as of right now, tickets prices are going for as low as $25, up to $65.
Indie/electro-rock band Passion Pit is coming to the Ritz in Ybor on June 14. The show begins at 8 p.m., and doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance.
The American Idols Live tour is coming to the St.Pete Times Forum on August 4. The concert starts at 8:30 p.m and tickets are ranging from $80 to nearly $500. Performers include the top 10 contestants from this past season.
“I’m looking forward to seeing The Maine this summer. I’ve seen them before and they’re my favorite band,” sophomore Jordon Hughes said.
