The British are coming! The British are coming! But this time they are bringing over catchy tunes and hitting top spots on the most popular billboards. It’s hard to deny that several of today’s top music is from singers or bands from the United Kingdom.
One Direction came singing and dancing across the ocean calling every girl beautiful with their top hit “You Don’t Know You’re Beautiful.” They were first introduced to the UK on their singing reality show, The X-Factor. After the show, they made their way to teen girls here in America, making One Direction the most known boy band of today’s time.
They’re not the only Brits making it big in the USA. Ed Sheeran who was One Direction’s biggest inspiration as an English singer, songwriter, and producer, is now taking America by storm. When his number one song “The A Team” started playing on the radio, people instantly fell in love with his soft voice and soothing lyrics. Making it big, he is now touring outside of the UK and has made his way to concert venues all around America.
“I don’t give a shh no one else can have you” is one of the most catchy lines played on the radio from Cher Lloyd’s song “I Want U Back.” This young, cute, quirky, girl came in fourth place on The X-Factor. Her songs reach top charts in the UK, Ireland and now here! Her strong English accent when she sings is what makes her stand out in the US. Starting on a small audition stage in the UK, she is now performing in extravagant venues overseas.
Music and British pop culture are remaining factors in our society and its is “One Thing” that is sure to stay.
