Secrets behind the heart stopping film Mockingjay Part 1

– What are a few of the techniques used in Mockingjay Part 1, and what will become of Plutarch’s role in Part 2?

First appearing in theaters on November 21 2014, Mockingjay Part 1 scored the biggest movie opening profit of the year, bringing in $123 million dollars. This movie adaptation of the widely acclaimed Hunger Games Trilogy was jam packed with explosions and special effects.

Filming for the movie began in Atlanta Georgia in 2013. Filming also took place in Paris France, and was concluded in Berlin on June 20 2014.

Special effects were performed by a collaboration between film director Francis Lawrence and senior visual effects supervisor Charles Gibson.

“Francis wanted a naturalistic look and feel to the movie which was largely reviewed through the eyes of Katniss.” Gibson said.

“This translated into using natural light, mostly hand held camera with very long takes, and shooting in existing, organic locations with natural atmosphere.” Gibson said.

Other effects were used to bring certain aspects of Mockingjay to life. The hovercrafts seen flying in the film, for example, were hung from cranes to stimulate flight.

Now that Mockingjay Part 2 is due to come out in late 2015, questions have been arising as to what will become of Plutarch’s role in the final film after the death of Philip Seymour Hoffman in 2014. Hoffman’s role will not be re-cast, due to the fact that the majority of his scenes had already been filmed for Mockingjay Part 1 and 2. The rest of his lines and scenes will be completed with a combination of re-writes, camera tricks, and special effects.

Mockingjay Part 2 will be coming to theaters on November 20 2015, and will be the conclusion to the four part film adaptation.
