Jack attack on the 7

It is no surprise that Apple has caused an uproar with their most recent adjustment to the iPhone 7 in removing the headphone jack. This newly renovated iPhone has had both positive and negative reviews.

“Apple has removed hardware from other products and we’ve lived through it. I don’t see why this would be any different,” Jamarvis Brown, a student at SPC, said. “Plus, the lightning port becomes the headphone jack for the iPhone 7.”

There was a more negative impression on the phone adjustments among people who hadn’t even bought the phone yet.  Once people actually purchased the phone, many realized it wasn’t as big of a deal as they had thought. Apple improved the Bluetooth headphones and they’re becoming more affordable. If people really don’t care for the change, purchase of the iPhone 7 comes with the lightning adapter as well.

The lightning adapter, or connector, is a small piece that plugs into the lightning port of the iPhone at one end and has a 3.5mm headphone jack at the other. This compensates for the missing jack. This would enable the use of standard headphones with wires with the iPhone 7, instead of the Bluetooth ones.

“An iPhone without its headphone jack is easier to live with than I thought it would be. I also see no serious loss in the audio quality while using the Bluetooth headphones,” Santana Ross, graduate from Countryside High School, said.

With the increasing number of iPhone 7 users, there are more and more individuals that realize they won’t be missing the headphone jack for long. Buyers seem to feel neutral about the situation with only minor complaints about the new phone.

What’s next, Apple? Can the community take it?
