The rise of Jon Bellion

If I asked you if you ever heard a song by Jon Bellion you’d probably say no, but if you’ve ever heard Jason DeRulo’s “Trumpets” or “Monster” by Eminem featuring Rihanna, then you stand corrected.

“When I dropped out of college, I had a mix tape that was out there circulating. Somehow it wound up with this intern, Matt, at Warner Bros. He flipped out when he heard it about it and took it to Kara [an executive] who called me and said, ‘I can sign your whole crew. The guy doing the beats, the singer, the rapper, everyone.’ When I told her it was all me, she said, ‘I want to meet you in my office tomorrow!’ I ended up signing my publishing deal through her, and for 18 months, just focused on the craft of music making. A year later, I got my first placement, which was ‘Monster,'” Bellion said.

Not only has Jon Bellion co-wrote the songs above, but his songwriting skills have been compared to other artist like Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran. As his name becomes more popular, you may hear songs like his new hit, “All Time Low,” which was released early this year.

Although he is normally considered a singer-songwriter and classified under the rap genre, Bellion likes to think of himself genreless. His music combines heart tugging messages and club beats.

“My music is a big ball of what the heck! I honestly have no genre, no lane, no anything… I’m just making music and having fun, and that’s all I can ask for,” said Bellion.

Bellion is already on his own tour, playing what some consider to be smaller venues. Bellion announced as an extension to his own tour, he will be opening for the popular alternative band, Twenty One Pilots in their Emotional Roadshow Tour. Some were skeptical that Bellion would be not be able to keep up with this high energy band who’s known for their costumes and theatrics, while others believe that he’s the type of artist who can fit in with all types of music.

“Us as humans all have the same problems. We struggle with pride and tons of different issues that nobody really wants to talk about. So I figured if I’m the honest one showing how human I am, it will make people feel better about themselves,” says Bellion.

Bellion is not just another artist, but a human being that is compassionate and cares about others. His music can speak to all audiences, and reach people in ways that they would never have imagined. So if you’re craving a new sound to add to your playlist, give Jon Bellion a chance.
