Harry Styles, “Fine Line” album review

Harry Styles, Fine Line album review

As the clock struck midnight on Dec. 13, 2019, Harry Styles blessed the earth with his second solo album, titled Fine Line. The album includes 12 songs, three of which are singles, the total length of the album being 46 minutes. This review truly can’t do any justice to the art that is this album. Needless to say, I loved it.

The first of the singles to be released on Oct. 11 was ‘Lights Up’, a song about defining yourself and accepting who you are, not worrying what others perceive of you. The chorus consists of the lyrics “Lights up, do you know who you are?” which is a question Harry asks himself in the music video, while surrounded by a mass of people.

The next single was released on Nov. 16, named ‘Watermelon Sugar’. This is my personal favorite. While the song doesn’t have a clear interpretation, at least not one that’s school appropriate, the song is a positive, uplifting anthem that just makes you want to dance. The song truly tastes like strawberries on a summer evening.

The final single released before the album on Dec. 6 was named ‘Adore You’, and it did not disappoint. Harry sings about his adoration and devotion for someone, many have interpreted it to be directed to his love for his fans. The music video consists of a mythical story on an Island named ‘Eroda’, where a young Harry blinds the Island with his bright smile. You have to watch to understand, or, at least, to attempt to understand.

Finally, the entire album was released exactly when he promised it would be, at midnight of Dec, Friday the 13th and the night of the full moon. From the opening song ‘Golden’ all the way to the closing song ‘Fine Line’, the album flows through similar melodies and themes, with an overall theme of heartbreak and self renewal. The album got the hype it deserved, immediately flying to the top of every chart with help from Harry’s very dedicated fans. His upcoming tour begins in June of 2020, and it’s going to be an out of body experience for sure.

If you haven’t given Harry a shot, now is definitely the time to do so. Stream Fine Line on all platforms.
