Let’s be honest, our generation has lost its touch when it comes to common courtesy and thinking beyond the moment. Although there will always be those people who will cut you in line, give you awful looks and honk at you in the car for no reason, you don’t have to be one of them. I propose a challenge: a weekly test of your character.
This week’s challenge is social and not that difficult. Throughout your years, I’m sure you’ve recognized that there has always been “a quiet kid” that never talks or invites conversation. I challenge you to greet this person kindly and try to make conversation with them. A simple “How are you?” or even just an acknowledgement can spark something great.
You never know a person’s circumstances. Maybe they don’t have many friends or have an unsettling home life. Even if they do have friends, gaining another is never a bad thing. People underestimate how much their words may affect others. A simple statement made by a peer can taunt a person forever, or it can be just what they needed to hear to get them by.
