The right way to choose a college

The+right+way+to+choose+a+college

Choosing which college to attend is a stressful decision. Unfortunately, many Florida students usually choose to go to, UCF, USF, FSU, or UF.  Not saying that these are bad universities, however, it’s in your best interest to be open minded on other colleges to attend in Florida.

I use to be one of those kids who wanted to attend either FSU or UCF. When touring these campuses I, of course, asked questions about my major, athletic training. The response I received from both UCF and FSU was “oh yeah, we have that major.”

I then decided that these schools don’t have the best program for my major so I looked further. I went to tour Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU). When I asked for information about athletic training there, they had a lot to offer, a lot more than I thought. They explained how they list athletic training separate from an exercise science major, and that they set every athletic training student up with a full internship with their teams. The icing on the cake was the beautiful campus that fits my personality perfectly. It was then a no brainier from that point: FGCU was where I belonged.

Just because it’s not one of the 4 major universities, doesn’t mean that it is a bad college. I see more and more people attending a university just because of the label, and regardless of their major. The best thing is to be open minded and know your information before making a decision.
