Fear in our nation

Fear+in+our+nation

The United States is in hot water. Between divided politicians, terrorism, climate change and the fear of being on the verge of nuclear war. How safe is the country?

Over the years, America has not been safe from acts of violence. They can be unprovoked and dangerous. One of these attacks happened last month in Las Vegas. One lone shooter, shot and killed 58 people and injured over 500 others. These terrifying acts always felt like they could never happen in our town. But, more and more of these attacks have left everyone with the fear that maybe this could happen to them.

Hurricanes are a natural enemy, and this year has been one of the most devastating. Hurricanes have cost the nation billions of dollars worth of damage. These storms have destroyed our homes and taken lives. Hurricane Harvey hit Texas, Irma Florida, and Maria destroyed Puerto Rico. When and where will the next one strike?

North Korea is a real threat that cannot be ignored. They want to cause harm, nuclear harm. North Korea would be foolish to attack directly, but their actions may cause the president to attack. They want to get the president to strike first, because that would give them an excuse to fight back. If this happens, a nuclear future is a very alarming possibility for the country and the whole world.

North Korea has developed missiles which have a strike range that can reach the middle of the USA. If Kim Jong Un were to strike, he would pick a high population city like Los Angeles. Luckily, on the east coast there is nothing that can hit here…yet.

President Trump has created an unstable administration. The ongoing investigations regarding Russia and other issues has helped him to achieve a disapproval rating of 55.4%, and only a  38.2% approval rating. This does not set Trump on a good path if he wants to be re-elected for president again in the 2020 election.

Between North Korea and all the other challenges the country is facing, will the nation make it through the next ten years? Only time will tell the fate of  the United States.
