One of the most important cards that Floridians carry with them recently got a remodel.

At the start of August 2017, the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DMV) began to release a more intricate and secure card. Many people were not aware of the new update in which has been stated to be fully in place by the end of the 2017 year.

The new design includes almost double the fraud protections than the previous design and helps protect the use of fake ID cards.

The new card will feature designs such as ultraviolet ink, an optical variable ghost with UV light, and a gold look-through element in which the old card did not have.

“I think the new ID’s look super cool and it’s super interesting that they decided to change them after such a long time.” Angela Allen said.

The ID card will also be holding new and updated designation symbols. The symbols including “veteran”, “organ donor”, and “deaf” which will now be placed in the bottom right side of the card with new designs that are more easily distinguishable.

The DMV wanted to make a card that was created uniquely for Florida. In the background of the new card it symbolizes a seal of the state of Florida unlike the old card which feature a picture of the beach.

With all the new features many people may be changing their ID card in the near future. The hope of the Florida DMV is just getting started in helping with less anger for their residents.
