The annual Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is a combination of Christmas festivities along with the already magical Disney World.

Disney sets up a selection of special events including parades and concerts. Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade marches through main street twice a night and presents it’s popular characters with parade floats, lights, music, and even fake snow. Between parades, the Holiday Wishes firework spectacular can be spotted when they are set off above Cinderella’s Castle. During one of the most magical parts of the night, the castle is blanketed in blue lights as if it were in the movie Frozen.

Disney World in Orlando attracts people from around the world, let alone the country. People travel hours with their families to spend time at the Magic Kingdom, which, according to multiple sources, is the most popular theme park in the world. Therefore, Floridians who live relatively close Disney have it easy. Those in Palm Harbor have to travel a lot less than one of the other thousands of people that come from other continents.

Cassidy Fischer (‘21), for example, used to attend Disney multiple times a year, but now mainly goes to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. She and her family have decided that this is the most special and fun time of year to go rather than on a regular day.

“My favorite part has been the rides. They aren’t much different during the holiday season, but the vibe of it is all so much fun. All the cookies and chocolate they have around the park is also one of my favorite things to look forward to,” Fischer said. “This year I’m looking forward to spending it with my family and best friend.”
