Get your paint and creativity ready seniors! For the first time in school history, seniors will be able to purchase their very own parking spots for the year, and personalize them. Principal Christen Tonry has approved this privilege in hopes that it can be a fun tradition that can carry on for years. But how does this process work?
Each senior student interested was able buy a spot starting for $30 in the front office. Before purchasing, the senior must have filled out registration form, which can be found on the senior website, with a sketch of their parking spot design on the back. Each design will be given to Ms. Tonry for approval. Senior students did not know which spot would be theirs before purchasing. When asked about the procedure on selecting parking spots for students, teacher and cheerleading coach, Stacy Elliott said, “We don’t know yet. It depends on the number of spots sold.”
Seniors are looking forward to this new opportunity. “I love the idea. We get to park there without anyone else parking there all year! I think most seniors feel the same way,” senior Devin McDaniel said.
Senior Hollie Hirsch is one to agree. “I think it is a spectacular idea,” Hirsch said.
However, some students didn’t like every aspect of the procedure. “I feel like there wasn’t enough time. I wasn’t able to turn in my money, so now I’ll have to park with the underclassmen,” Brian Metcalf said.
If sophomores and juniors choose to park in these spots that were bought by the seniors, this privilege will quickly be taken away.
