We’ve seen the football team have an almost winning season, we’ve seen the volleyball team make it to regionals and we’ve even seen the swim team bring home a state title, but there’s one group of people that we tend to neglect: the band. They play at the football games during half time and we hear Ms. Tonry call for band practice at the end of the day announcements but that’s all most students see/hear of them for the most part. What else does this group do?
“The band has a new director this year, James Dykes, and he previously directed the band at Dunedin High. We are doing excessively well with him and working very hard. Recently in FBA we received “Straight Superiors” which is the highest awards a band can obtain,” senior and four-year band veteran Matt Clark said.
The band is a very dedicated team, with practices every Tuesdays and Thursdays, sometimes Saturdays, for 3 hours. The band recently played in the Palm Harbor parade, this past Saturday in Palm Harbor off of Nebraska Avenue and performed very well!
