Mu Alpha Theta will be hosting its largest statewide math competition this Saturday, January 15 from 7am to 4pm.
“We are expecting over 1300 people from all over Florida, including two schools from Alabama,” said President James Tian, senior. With approximately 60 volunteers coordinated to run the event, this will byfar be the largest competition ever hosted at PHU.
The students of MAO are to play a big role in the event, however, having written all the tests (with the exception of Calculus,) our students will not be permitted to compete. Calculus Topics of competition include Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Precalculus, Statistics, Calculus, Mental Math, Speed Math, and a completely new E-Off.
The event will be a great financial opportunity for PHU MAO as well. A sizable amount of money goes to the club, some of which pays for the test printing, school fees, trophy costs, food costs, and other organization materials. The residual money goes to the fundraiser funds and will help subsidize our competition expenses for the remainder of the year.
