Do the vending machines at Palm Harbor University cause you frustration when they refuse your money? Do you wish the machines provided a wider selection?
Well the Pinellas County School Food Service Department has taken a step to fix these problems. Next year, the vending machines on this campus, as well as 11 other schools, will experience a change of machine and merchandise.
The PCS Food Service is taking over the vending machines and has been sending “focus groups” to schools across the county to taste test possible replacement drinks.
“The purpose of this taste testing is to give the students a choice as to what will be put in the vending machines. We would like to produce a wider variety of products,” Karen Saley, coordinator of Wednesday’s taste testing, said.
Although there will be an addition of more fruit-based beverages, sodas will still represent 20% of the vending machines selection. The sodas will be chosen off of the national list of most popular soft drinks.
Students are sampling each beverage and voting either green for “go” or red for “no”.
“The machines will be based off of student’s choice,” Saley said.
Hopefully you casted your votes, PHU. You can look forward to a brand new selection this next school year.
