Teens move from booth to booth exploring the opportunities presented to them. The first ever PHUHS Job Fair is here. On April 12th during 7th period students were allowed to meet in the cafeteria for a Job fair.
So what is the Job fair? The Job fair was a congregation of vendors from local stores or services explaining opportunities that are available to students.
“We’re passing out applications because we’re trying to recruit teens,” Brenda Wilson from the Greater Palm Harbor YMCA said.
Each vendor has two goals. Educate and recruit.
“My main goal is to educate the opportunities we have in the Marines,” Andrew Bozeman, a recruiter for the Marines in Clearwater, said.
Traci Matthews and Carl Brown coordinated the even in a span of two months.
“Mrs. Matthew and I contacted the vendors. The real purpose is to get a real job like experience,” Brown said.
Students reported positively on the outcome of the fair.
“I’m hoping I can apply for some jobs and I’ll definitely come again if there’s another one,” freshman Alex Hendrix said.
“It’s really informative; I’d be too lazy to do this,” senior Mike Martini said.
Overall the Job Fair was a good experience for all who had partaken .
“Hopefully we’ll get some good candidates and I expect to get good employees. I think your school is doing a great thing,” the Famous Footwear vendor said.
