Practice makes perfect
The SAT is just a test. We take them every week in school. But this test, in particular, is the one that colleges see. This test has the potential to make or break your future.
Nearly four hours of head scratching and listening to the ominous ticking of the clock can be avoided with proper preparation.
Students all over campus have taken the SAT, but just as many are clamoring for advice on what to expect.
Senior Kendall McIntosh has taken the SAT. She had both tutoring and a review book on her side. “I was incredibly nervous,” she said. “Super dooper nervous, mostly because I wanted a good score and I didn’t want to take it again.”
In the end, all of her hard work paid off because she was satisfied with her score.
Mrs. Funsten encourages students to practice before the test. “Go to the collegeboard website and do the practice questions, and get a good nights sleep,” she said.
Senior Brad Gorman, who took the SAT and plans to take the ACT soon, prepared with the help of a tutor. “Take it serious,” he said.
Senior Maddy McGee was ready to take the SAT on test day, and plans to retake it again soon to raise her scores. “I have a SAT prep class,” she said. “It prepares you.”
Juniors and seniors all over have taken this stressful test, some with better strategies than others. A lot of students have valuable words of wisdom. The prevailing opinion is to study, whether with a class, tutor or study guide, and to get a good night’s sleep the night before.
