Lip Sync Show: A performance to remember

The lights went dim, a hush fell over the audience. Josh Perlin and Tim Hart, both IB seniors, took the stage for what would be their last Lip Sync Show at PHUHS.

On October 4th, at 7:00pm students gathered in the PHUHS auditorium for a show they wouldn’t soon forget. The PHUHS Drama Department holds the Lip Sync Show annually to help raise money for students attending college drama auditions as well as other drama activities.

Two acts were performed with a brief intermission between them. Both acts had seven performances each, including “This is Halloween-Panic! At the Disco” and “Radioactive-Imagine Dragons.”

This year video submissions were accepted and two made the final cut. Megan Justice starred in “Don’t Forget” by Demi Lovato. Miguel Corteo directed “Play Hard” by David Guetta. Both video acts received roaring applause after being shown on a pull-down screen.

The acts were judged by three teachers, one from each program at our school. Sara Kolhoff, from IB, Erin Pollack, from medical, and Roney Fulp, from traditional, attended the Lip Sync Show in order to choose the best performance of the night.

The judges deliberated and chose “One Direction Medley” starring Anthony Casasnovas, Zaydi Javeed, Gabe Lewandowski, Brian McElligot, and Nickolas Washburn. During part of their performance, the boys went through the crowd and brought up five girls who were sitting in the crowd.

The largest and closing act was “What Does the Fox Say” by YLVIS including performers from other acts in the show. All of the performers dressed in animal costumes. This performance allowed for a fitting ending to the Lip Sync Show after receiving thunderous laughter and applause.
