– It’s a new year with new students, new schedules, new diet regulations – and a new building.

The new construction begins in the Driver’s Ed lot.

There has been recent activity on the south side of school. Not fight, nor car crashes, but construction. What will be located on the south side? You guessed it, a new building!

“The new building has been a long anticipated moment,” Principal Christen Gonzalez said.

The building is to be complete by the start of the 2015-2016 school year. Word has it that there’s also going to be some new, state of the art technology.

With this up and coming change, what will happen to the bus circle? What will happen to the Drivers Ed course?

“The building is not affecting the buses; the only thing that changed with the buses is that one of the lanes is not in use anymore,” Gonzalez said. “The Driver’s Ed course will be in place where the portables were.”

Those like English teacher Sydney Miller that are in portables are looking forward to the new building because they’re going to receive new classrooms and better equipment.

“Most of the teachers in the portables will be put into the new building,” Miller said.

The PHU family has been waiting for many years for the upcoming of this building. The 2015-2016 school year will be filled with new experiences for not only teachers but students as well. Sorry to say that seniors won’t be able to see this new addition to Palm Harbor University.
