CPR in HOPE class

Students are now learning and performing CPR in Coach Schaefer’s classes.

Everyone should know how to do CPR. This week in Coach Schaefer’s classes, the students have been learning how to do CPR. Over this last week, the students have learned how to react to a CPR situation, and execute the issue.

Some students just started to learn about CPR when other students are learning more about it. Many of the medical students have already been taught CPR and is learning more about it and what causes it.

On the first day, Coach Schaefer showed the students how to do chest compressions, back blows, abdominal thrusts, and the Heineman’s maneuver. The next day, the students learned how a defibrillator works and when to perform CPR on a person. One day later, the students took notes to study on for the test the following day.

Then on the last day of the week, the students did chest compressions. “Stayin’ Alive” by the Bee Gees were playing in the rhythm of the students doing the chest compressions. It helped many of the students do better on them. At the end of the exercise, the students took a 40 question test to test their knowledge.

It is important to know how to perform CPR. It may save someone’s life.
