The 2016 Presidential Election

The+2016+Presidential+Election

The fight for the next presidency is rapidly coming to a close, and soon we will have the fate of the country resting in the hands of one of two unlikely candidates. The election day is on Tuesday, November 8, less than a month away. The two primary party candidates are Hillary Clinton, who is the Democratic nominee, and Donald Trump, who is the Republican nominee. Both candidates are promising the people many things in return for their votes, like more jobs and a better economy, also things like a better future for children and better education, but the question is will they be able to keep these promises made to the people in their campaigns?

Clinton wants to make a better America. “If we stand together, if we work together, we’ll all rise together. We’ll be stronger together,” Clinton said. She believes that we need to be united to be able to be a good country. Also, she believes that the kids in America need to be the main priority.

Trump thinks that the country need to focus on making a better economy and workplace with more jobs available for people who need them so that they can provide a better life at home and have more resources available for families, also he wants to focus on immigration and how to stop people from illegally coming to America so that we have more jobs and there is less of a problem with immigration.

The main promise that Hillary made that is likely to gain her many votes is that she promised to “eliminate tuition for in-state public colleges for families making less than $125,000 a year”. This is likely to get her a lot of votes because college is a big concern for parents and it keeps getting more expensive, so being able to send your child to college for free would be a really big help for most families. “Being able to send your child to school for free would be a big help and solve a lot of problems for families that are in need of that help.”  Jennifer Budd said about eliminating in-state college tuition.

Another promise that would help many people is she promises to increase the federal minimum wage. This would help a lot of people who are struggling financially or need more money for things, this promise is also going to help her get a lot of votes in the election and hopefully she will be able to keep this if she wins the election. As of now the minimum wage is $8.05 an hour, and the salary from that is about $16,744 if you work 40 hour weeks almost every week of the year. Being able to increase this will help a lot of families and will help the country as a whole.

A lot of people think that Donald trump should not be running for President because of his lack of political history, but some people think that his business background would be a very good thing to have as a President. “Trump’s business background would be a help to many industries here and would change the way we work for the better, also, being in real estate, Trumps background in this field of work would help out in a lot of ways.” said Kirk Budd.

Trump promises to bring back jobs in the manufacturing business. This would help many people who are unemployed and are looking for jobs to help support them or a family. Another thing that Trump has promised was to leave social security as it is now so that everyone can have it when they need it. This will help get many votes from the older population who are approaching the need for social security or who are just thinking about the future after they retire.

This presidential election may not be what we expected with who we necessarily want,  but because of that there might be an outcome that we also didn’t expect, and that outcome may be a good change that this country was in need of. If Donald Trump does win then we will have more of a business advantage, but he lacks politics, and if Hillary wins than we have a more political advantage but she would lack the business advantage we would have with Trump. No matter your thoughts about this election there will be some good in the outcome and some bad, but hopefully the candidates can deliver us what they promised in their campaigns.
