59 people dead, and over 500 people injured is the aftermath of the devastating Las Vegas shooting.

On Sunday October 1st Jason Aldean was performing at the Route 91 Harvest Festival to a crowd of about 22,000 people. Unknown to them, Stephen Paddock was waiting on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel with over 20 automatic weapons at his disposal.

Paddock opened fire on the unsuspecting and innocent crowd of people late Sunday night. Subsequently, he shot himself when the police discovered him. This tragic shooting is now determined to be, “the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.” (foxnews.com).

Paddock is said to have no motive for this spontaneous shooting. However, the 64 year old Paddock had extensive planning for this massacre. He spent time in order to collect an array of fast automatic weapons, and thousands of rounds of bullets.

Authorities are still trying to determine if Paddock had an accomplice in this heinous crime. They have also spoken to family, friends, and Paddock’s girlfriend, all of which have said they didn’t have an ounce of suspicion that he would do something like this.

Paddock seemed like a normal guy. He was a “retired accountant and avid gambler” who had no reason to kill and injure these people, (washingtonpost.com). However, he obviously had a dark side. What he did was despicable and it is hard to imagine what the friends and families of the victims are going through right now.

This was a horrific event that will be remembered as an awful day where many innocent lives were taken. We must band together as a nation now to support and pray for the victims of the Las Vegas shooting.
