Eight innocent pedestrians are now dead because of a Home Depot pickup truck. Many are shocked by the fact that this was identified as a terror attack, but to some it was no surprise.

Civilians in New York were not expecting an attack on their own city. On Tuesday, Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov, 29-year-old, plows through NYC with a Home Depot pickup truck killing eight people,severely injuring more than 12, and leaves other vehicles damaged.

According to CNN, there was a note left inside the pickup truck which translated to “ISIS Lives Forever”. They have connected and confirmed that this indeed was a terrorist attack. Saipov’s phone contained 90 ISIS videos and almost 4,000 ISIS propaganda images proving that this was a serious attack and not a joke.

According to Chicago Tribune, Saipov is facing terrorism charges that may lead to a death penalty. President Donald Trump tweeted “…There is also something appropriate about keeping him in the home of the horrible crime he commited. Should move fast. DEATH PENALTY!”. The terrorism charges are creeping towards a possible death penalty for this horrible crime.

Saipov is taking pride in what he has done and has requested for something odd in the hospital. In his hospital room he asked for the Islamic State flag to be hung because he was proud of what he did. He had been planning this attack for almost a year and according to NBC News, Saipov “felt good about what he did”.

In honor of the victims of the attack a vigil was held gathering around 150 people in Manhattan’s Foley Square. Prayers were offered in memory of those who have died in the attack. Although this was a terror attack many know that the best thing to do right now is promote peace and not violence.
