PALM HARBOR FL – Even though school has just started there are a lot of school events going on,
so let us do a quick recap to make sure everyone is up to date. First, student government
elections have started, which is particularly important because choosing the right
representative can help students bring their voice to various events. The student
representatives can promote diversity and inclusion while ensuring students are kept in the loop when making decisions.

On the student government topic, The National Honor Society Applications are open, due
September 11, 2023. Even though first-year students cannot apply to be in NHS, it is an
especially useful tool for juniors and seniors because it acknowledges students’ achievements
as well as encourages them to make an impact at school and in their community. Also, it looks
nice in the students’ resume for future colleges and helps them be considered as a potential
student because the NHS is an admiral acceptance in high school.

It’s finally homecoming season! Everyone is overly excited to buy their dresses and outfits.
Homecoming is the first event of the season. This event brings all of the student body together, to have fun and create a sense of unity.

On the topic of homecoming, homecoming court has finally started. It is a longstanding tradition from the 20th century that has continued and has evolved to fit in our current society. A homecoming Queen and King are supposed to be chosen by Wednesday September 13th, 2023. Many students are supporting
their friends by posting on social media like Snapchat and Instagram to persuade people to vote
for their friends. Which is very smart because students are using their resources to reach most
people and ensure their friends are well known and have a good chance of winning.

Picture day is happening next Tuesday, the 12th. It is a special day when we all get our pictures taken at
school. We dress up and smile for the camera, and these pictures end up in yearbooks or as
keepsakes. It is a fun way to remember our time in school and how we change over the year.
So, get ready to say cheese and make some memories on Tuesday!
