Imagine a school filled with students all dressed in black and white. It looks like a sea of those colors; black and white everywhere you turn. But then, out of nowhere, a girl is wearing a turquoise shirt. And then you see some sophomore wearing red. There are always those few people who just don’t dress up on Homecoming Week. My question for those people is: Why?
For some days, I understand. They’re too cool to dress up like a freak on Twin Day or they don’t want to go buy clothes to wear on Decades Day. Whatever. But is it really that hard to put on a black or white shirt?
Not dressing up ruins the atmosphere of Homecoming Week for everyone else. Think about how awesome it would be if every single person in the entire school dressed up for Homecoming Week. It would be amazing. The whole school would seem like we walked out of a time machine on Decades Day. But, there are always just those few people who want to ruin it. I guess it doesn’t matter to them that the entire rest of the school will be dressing up. They just don’t want to look dumb. Oh yeah… that makes a lot of sense. I don’t think I will ever understand the reasoning behind it, but I guess that’s why I’m not one of the cool kids who refuse to participate in the dress up days.
To balance it out, there are still always those kids who go above and beyond every year for Homecoming Week. Those kids who everybody talks about: the guys who dress up like girls, the juniors that went as twins to Ms. Tonry and Mr. Price. These are the students that help pump our school spirit with all of their good energy. Thanks to them, we can never really have a boring Homecoming Week. No matter how hard the non-participators may try…
