Drama, drama, drama. It is basically a daily essential in the lives of high schoolers. Whether it’s with friends, a significant other, whoever, you can hardly escape drama during “the best years” of your life.
With social networking, it’s as easy to start and continue drama as ever. I know I am not the first person to be scrolling down my news feed on Facebook and see an argument on someone’s status. Yes, it may be entertaining to see your peers feuding on a semi-public forum, but it is also what is slowly bringing our generation down.
These days, if someone has a problem with you, they are unfortunately more likely going to tell you over Facebook instead of to your face. I think that this tactic makes a small issue spiral out of control, thus resulting in even more drama.
With the use of social media, it is easier for people to be ganged up on. One person writes something nasty on your wall and next thing you know, they have their own army attacking you. Fair? Certainly not. How we teenagers live in today’s society? Sadly, yes.
How hard is it to address a problem with a person face-to-face? I mean, all you have to do is express what you are feeling in a calm, unaggressive manner. This way, you can hear their tone and determine how their argument is coming off. Not to mention, this will solve any issue faster, as you will not be eagerly waiting for the other person’s response.
Facebook, as well as other social networking sites, aide in cyber bullying and harassment. Stop the fights and the problems that come with having an account on a website. Is it really worth it? No. So let’s end the online drama, once and for all.
