US gov’t is Ukraine-ing over to negotiate with the Russian situation

No matter how patriotic a person may be, we can all agree that war is a terrible thing. Supposedly, it is only in war that murdering someone would be considered “okay” because they are seen as enemies. Growing up, we have been taught that violence is never the right answer. However, when nations can’t reach an agreement, they call on armed forces to take care of the situation. Recently, there has been strained relations between Russia and Ukraine.

So, here’s a recap of the events from the past couple of months. In late February, Crimea (a region of Ukraine) was taken over by Russian gunmen. This created a panic that spread through Ukraine and led to street protests. These protests led to new anti-protesting laws that were made in an attempt to calm down the rebellious forces. These laws had failed miserably, only to have encouraged the masses even more which preceded to a defeated President Viktor Yanukovych fleeing to Russia.

In place of President Yanukovych is a prime minister by the name of Arseniy Yatsenyuk, who is currently pleading for the United States to send in some military forces in order to protect Ukraine due to its weak army of approximately 6,000 men (I don’t think anyone can defend an attack from “Mother Russia” with that size). While some might say that this is a good measure to take, others believe it is a slight act of violence that could stir up tensions.

And speaking of tensions, rumors are floating around that this could be another Cold War. Not only have there been rumors of a Cold War, there’s also an absurd excitement of a “potential” World War III. Should Russia decide to invade Ukraine, the United States along with twenty-seven other countries would be obligated to militarily protect Ukraine (very intense, I know).

Russia has declared that Crimea is now an independent nation from Ukraine but I don’t understand what all the hype is all about. There’s a peaceful way to resolve this, I know there is. It’s unnecessary for Ukrainians to fear for a Russian takeover. At this point, I just think that the nations can battle it out with some rounds of Flappy Birds.
