Some teenagers are not aware of the safety regulations that are put in place when it comes to driving. As a result, teens go out on the road being naive to the fact that they are putting thousands of peoples lives at risk. Teens have earned the stigma of reckless driving.

It is very crucial for teen drivers to undergo any type of driver’s education, it helps them become well-informed and familiar with driving on the road. Most teenagers are blindsided when getting behind the wheel.

“Taking Driver’s Education really has helped improve my driving. Being able to practice behind the wheel has given me insight on what I need to perfect when it comes to driving,” Jasmina Hasikic (’21) said.

Also, a benefit to taking a driver’s education course is that it lowers the car insurance. Teens have earned the stigma of reckless driving, so car insurance is more expensive for them because they are more likely to get in a car crash.

“One of the reasons I decided to take the driver’s education course was so that my mom’s insurance would be lowered,” Ariana Badia (’19) said.

There is a drivers education course offered for students to take. Mr. John Baker is very knowledgeable when it comes to teaching students about driving. He has been training teen drivers for years now.

“Teenagers do not need to be out driving past 12 a.m. because it substantially increases the risk for teen accidents. It is an extremely fearful time for them to drive, there is no exception on why teens are out driving that late,” Baker said.

When driving, parents should play an important role to guide and assist their teen drivers. The parents will then know that their child is prepared for the road. Being taught thoroughly may give the teen driver an advantage because they are well-educated and experience time on the road.
