It’s the most wonderful time of the year, so why not blast It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year by Lea Michele. Michele released her third album titled Christmas in the City on Oct 25, 2019. In an interview with Billboard she explained how it had always been her dream to release a Christmas album, and she felt that this was the perfect time in her life to do it. 

Michele made an exciting announcement when she revealed she was writing her own Christmas song entitled Christmas in New York. She based the song off of her favorite Christmas memories of growing up in New York City. The song is upbeat and bubbly and makes the listener want to visit the city during the holidays. The song was met with such great reviews that she was asked to sing it at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, followed by a performance later in the year at the Rockefeller Center. 

While the new song may be the main featured song, the album includes traditional songs such as O Holy Night and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. Michele also felt that Christmas is all about family and friends, which made her decide to include some guest singers on the album. Darren Criss is featured on White Christmas and her best friend Jonathan Groff is on I’ll Be Home for Christmas. 

With all these amazing details, the album is truly a Christmas delight. Michele is able to stray away from her “Glee” stereotype and sing these songs with maturity and grace. It is a hard task to release a Christmas album as many people already have their favorite ones to listen to such as Christmas by Michael Bublé. However, I believe Michele outdid herself with her third solo album and it is sure to become a Christmas favorite not only for her fans but for anyone who hears it.
