Player of the Week: Zeena Khazendar
Zeena Khazendar has been phenomenal at the game of volleyball ever since she started playing it. The Jordan native picked up the sport in the fifth grade.
“When I moved back to the U.S from Jordan I thought it would be interesting to try. Volleyball isn’t very common there because girls mostly play soccer” junior Khazendar said.
In her first three seasons Khazendar has already left her mark on the PHU volleyball program. She has been a starter since her freshman year, and helped the team accumulate three straight PCAC titles and three straight District titles. Khazendar has filled the role of being the team’s libero, a defensive specialist.
While her focus is set on her junior season, Khazendar is looking forward to the possibility of playing beach volleyball in college. She is receiving interests to play at the next level from several schools including FAU, Stetson, and California Berkeley.
Khazendar along with her teammates are hoping to win the school’s first state championship this season.
