Senior Night for the PHUHS Boys’ and Girls’ varsity soccer teams was Friday, January 7. Both teams prepared for the home game face-off against Riverview High School practice every day after school that week, excluding Wednesday when the teams played Countryside High School. Their efforts paid off against Riverview as overall, both teams ended with a good result. The Lady Canes played at 6 P.M. and finished the game with a 3-0 defeat. Goals went to seniors Kate Hardwick and Meghan Harrington and freshman Alyssa Skryd.
“It was so amazing to score a goal on Senior Night, especially since it was our last game of the regular season,” Harrington said. “I’m happy with the game’s outcome and it ended up being such a great Senior Night.”
The PHUHS Boys’ soccer team played at 8 P.M. They fought hard the entire game and put forth great effort, but ended the game with a 0-0 tie.
“It’s always disappointing to not get the result you were looking for, and I definitely think we outplayed Riverview,” junior Sterling Lombard said. “But the seniors had a memorable night and everyone played hard.”
“Altogether, Senior Night was very successful,” senior Arianna Cook said. “We all loved our gifts from the juniors and underclassmen and it was fun to drive around with our cars decorated.”
