PHU’s soccer team just recently had tryouts and is ready to start another unforgettable season. In order to make the team you need to have good attitude and certainly, skill. Each and every player shows off their hard work and talent each and every day of practice. Individual qualifications, of course, differ depending on your position. They had a great turn out this year with lots of new and talented players.
Every year Countryside High School hosts a preseason tournament that all school teams in the district are welcome to attend. The team ended up beating Countryside and St. Pete and then tied against East Lake.
“CCC and East Lake are our biggest competition. It’s always a close game when we play against them,” junior Morgan Lorenti said.
PHU’s first game was Nov. 7, against CCC. They won 1-0 with goal from junior Kelly Phipps.
The season just started, so there’s plenty of time to come out and support the lady canes soccer team in their pronounced season ahead.
“I think we’ll have a really great season,” Lorenti said. “We have a lot of talented players.”
