From the freezing ice, to the balance beams, and back to the ice, sophomore Brookelyn McGauley is the one woman wonder that has been all across the board in sports. While her favorite sport is hockey, she loves many others as well.
“I play hockey and I’ve been playing for twelve years. I’ve done gymnastics for thirteen years, and figure skating for thirteen years,” McGauley said. “I practice for hockey two times a week. I practice figure skating three times a week, and practice gymnastics five times.”
Being a part of so many sports does come with a price; injuries are a part of the package.
“I’ve sprained a bunch of limbs. Once when I was ten, I was practicing my footwork in figure skating when I tripped and my ice skate was lodged into my leg. I needed a lot of stitches,” said McGauley.
This flexible puck-shooter has been in three championships for hockey, and has been to state for gymnastics numerous times. McGauley has won many awards for her championships in figure skating and gymnastics.
“I’ve lost count of how many awards I’ve won. Have you seen my room?” McGauley said.
