  • The men’s hockey national tournament final will be played at the Amalie Arena

The passion of college hockey returns to the sunshine state. The top teams in D-1 college hockey bring their talents down South to showcase in front of thousands of fans and plenty of NHL scouts. The players will be looking to win the college hockey national championship on the Tampa Bay Lightning’s home ice.

The tournament will be filled with lots of firepower from legendary college teams like possibly Quinnipiac, North Dakota, Boston College, St. Cloud State, Michigan, and last years champions Providence. In the national rankings Quinnipiac is currently sitting at the top of the rankings, quickly followed by North Dakota. After the Bison, Boston College comes in a whopping 63 points behind. (Teams get three points for every win and one point for going into overtime). St. Cloud State sneaks into the top four, getting right above Providence.

Quinnipiac comes in as heavy favorites to win the tournament. They’ve had a great defensive run lately on the heels of Michael Garteig, the Hobey award finalist (goalie of the year). Boston College has surprised a lot this season.Having a season of a lifetime, Alex Carpenter was named USCHO’s player of the year. These two impact players look to help boost their respective teams all the way to a national championship.

This year’s tournament is filled with young athletes who are sure to put on a show. Tampa will host this year’s frozen four on April 7th and 9th, 2016. These men don’t play for money they play for the love of the game.
