  • Bucs retained and lost key players so far this offseason, but there is much more time.

A deal that exceeds 42 million dollars was signed to keep one of the Bucs key players to keep him at home in the backfield with Jameis Winston. One of the anchors on the offensive line retires after starting all 161 games he participated in over 11 seasons in the NFL. One of the key signings from last years offseason was released to create cap space. The team also extended a tender offer of one of the team’s leading pass rushers. The bucs have not done bad by any standards, but some moves have been questioned.

Doug Martin got paid. I mean within the top three of highest paid running backs right now. He deserves it by all means. He averaged 4.87 yards per carry, which was second in the league only to Adrian Peterson. Doug Martin has proved on occasion that he is worth this amount on money and hopefully he can keep up this production.

One of the NFL’s ironmen Logan Mankins has officially retired. He was one of the most productive offensive lineman in his time. He was a long time patriot, and spent his priming making sure no one could get to Tom Brady. He was truly a great player and may end up in the hall of fame one year.

The Bucs have cut LB Bruce Carter who was supposed to start in the middle for the Bucs last season, and did during the beginning of the season only to lose his starting role to up and comer Kwon Alexander.

The Bucs are sure to make a splash in free agency, and if they do not they still will have a solid team and core.
