History is not changed easily. It takes a special blend of talent, dedication, and luck. For the Golden State Warriors, this magical blend has led them to a historic 73-9 record in the NBA regular season.

This is no easy feat, as only one other team has won over 65 games in a regular season, the Chicago Bulls. Janet Jackson was topping the charts, Hillary Clinton was just the First Lady, Tupac Shakur was shot four times in a drive-by shooting, and the Chicago Bull’s set the previous best regular season record of 72-10 back in 1996. 20 years later, the Warriors break that historic record with the ’96 Bull’s point guard Steve Kerr as their coach.

At the beginning of the year, Kerr was asked if the Warriors could break the Bull’s seemingly untouchable record after the team got off to a 26-0 start. “Oh god, no. No!” said Kerr, “We had a guy named Michael Jordan on that team.” And now, 56 games later, Kerr has had to eat his words.
Throughout the season the Warriors have been led by MVP point guard Stephen Curry who is averaging a league leading 30.1 points per game. With key role players Klay Thompson and NBA defensive player of the year runner-up Draymond Green also carrying the team, there’s no reason the Warriors aren’t destined for more future greatness.
