USF mid-season report

USF mid-season report

University of Florida, Florida State University, and University of Miami. These are the teams Florida is known for. What about our local USF Bulls? The Bulls are led by Willie Taggart, and have a lot of talent that goes unseen because of them being in a lower conference.

The Bulls have started their season off with a record of s6-1. Getting wins against Towson, Northern Illinois, Syracuse, Cincinnati, East Carolina and Connecticut. Their only loss was to in-state foe Florida State.

The man under center is Quinton Flowers, the Bulls went to the Miami Beach last year to get defeated by Western Michigan 45-35. This left the junior quarterback with a motivation into the 2016-17 season.

“I want to see Quinton overcome adversity and finally see him win something big and get drafted,” Erik Breeze said.

The USF bulls are in the American Conference which is in the Group of 5. The Group of 5 is a step below the big conferences like the Southeastern Conference (SEC) or Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Being in a conference with not a lot of competition makes it hard for these teams to make the college football playoff.

USF is trying to make a case to show why they could go to a big conference. They are getting considered for entrance into the Big 12 along with other Group of 5 teams.

With their impressive start, the road to the American Conference title seems in grasp. The Bulls still have teams like the Navy to play, which just won against the previously ranked sixth Houston Cougars.

This Saturday, the Bulls play the Temple Owls in a night matchup on the road in Philadelphia on ESPN. Watch for running back Marlon Mack make big plays against the Owls as USF looks to continue their quest to the American Conference Championship.
