The Tampa Bay Lightning hockey team has shown that they may have a chance of making major headlines this year’s 2017-2018 season, but it’s just the start for them.

The lightning currently stands in first place overall for the national hockey league with an 10-2-1 record, a total of 21 points, and we’re ranked the number 1 team for the weekly ranking. The Los Angeles Kings, who were previously ranked number six in the National Hockey League (NHL), moved up to number two which creates competition for the lightning.

Last season the lightning lost during the third round against the Pittsburgh Penguins due to many errors, in which some were not their fault. The team struggled with many player injuries which placed them at a disadvantage. This season the whole team started healthy and the team hopes for it to stay that way.

The Tampa Bay Lightning also has many fans that enjoy watching their games, and come to make almost all of their games sellouts.

“Without the fans I feel that the team wouldn’t do as well because the fans cheer them on even whenever they are losing and show their support” Freshman Mary Segrue said.

The National Hockey League announced that the lightning’s Steven Stamkos and Nikita Kucherov are being discussed as “the best forward pair in NHL.” With so many players striving to these levels they show that the team may become unstoppable this season.

With over 70 games left and only 18 games played there’s no telling what will happen for the Tampa Bay lighting, but so far we do know that the start they had for this season could bring them to the top for the rest of the season to come.
